Course
IB Art 1
The first artwork I created for my IB art course inspired by MC Escher. The project focused on the issue of animal poaching, interpreting it as animal skin dollar bills. The bills consist of snake and leopard print bills, commonly traded skins, to communicate the idea that animals are only seen as money in the eyes of poachers. MC Escher's use of line inspired the striped effect on the bills.
The bills are printed using lino block to have replicate the act of printing bills. I had to be very precise when carving out the block because of the fine details and line weights. Details such as the leopard and snake's faces were particularly hard, especially because of how dry the lino block was.
